“3D maritim”: Viscon also on board

Viscon strengthens the competence network for the utilisation of 3D technology in the maritime industry

“3D maritim” was initiated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD. The worldwide unique association of IT companies, research institutions and user companies has made it its task to push for the innovative utilisation of 3D computer graphics in the maritime industry.

Now, Viscon is on board as well and is strengthening the network with expertise in terms of projection technology for VR and simulation.

The utilisation options for 3D technology in shipbuilding and ship operation as well as offshore and maritime technology are manifold. The network’s focus of work includes, for instance, 3D reconstruction, semantic enrichment of 3D data, virtual and augmented reality, human-machine interface and computer vision.

“3D maritim” provides a central point of contact for users and IT companies, creates synergies for innovation projects, and provides specific services:

• Consulting regarding the utilisation of 3D graphics and regarding technical implementation
• Contract research for creating innovative solutions
• Development of tailor-made hardware and software
